Our Tours

Singing River Tours has been in operation since 2005, offering eco-tours on the two very beautiful but very different rivers that Dunnellon, FL has to offer. The Rainbow River is a crystal clear spring-fed river which has been designated an Outstanding Florida Waterway. The Withlacoochee River is dark, tannic, and swamp-fed. Your tour will depart from Angler's Resort on the Withlacoochee River. Our tour boat is handicap-accessible, even for wheelchairs.

As we make our way along the river on our comfortable, shaded pontoon boat, your captain will share lots of information about the ecology of the rivers, the history of our town and surrounding area, and facts about the wildlife you'll encounter. The rivers are home to a wide variety of birds, turtles, otters, alligators, and fish.

You will spend about half of the tour on each of the two very different rivers. The Rainbow River, which originates at Rainbow Springs State Park just north of Dunnellon, is famous for its crystal clear waters. You'll be able to see right down to the bottom of the river!

The Rainbow River empties into the Withlacoochee River, and you'll be able to observe the distinct "line" in the water where the two rivers meet. It's an amazing example of a thermocline, and is something you may not have seen anywhere else. Your visit to the Withlacoochee River will give you a glimpse into what Florida must have been like long ago, before civilization took over. The natural beauty will amaze you!

You'll learn many things from Jon, your captain. He will explain the cycle of water as it falls down from the sky as rain and emerges into the Rainbow River, and tell you about our fresh-water springs, which are more plentiful in north central Florida than anywhere else in the world! Jon is very knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and will share interesting facts about the birds you may encounter, including anhinga, cormorants, several species of heron, ibis, limpkin, egrets, and others. He'll share information about turtles and alligators. You may even get to see our elusive river otters at play!

About two-thirds of the way through the tour, you'll be entertained with several songs about the state of Florida. Jon is an accomplished musician, and will play guitar and sing songs about the ecology and "quirks" of our fine state.

We hope you'll join us soon for an enjoyable, beautiful, and educational trip on our two precious waterways!

All tours are scheduled by reservation. Call Jon at (352) 804-1573 to ensure your seat on the day and time of your choice. Tours are scheduled seven days a week, year round. There is no minimum group size requirement.

We can assist you in finding other fun things to do in the Dunnellon area. The town of Dunnellon has a variety of antique shops, gift and specialty shops, and dining establishments, including The Blue Gator right here at Angler's Resort. Capt. Bob's Airboat Tours also departs from Angler's Resort. If you'd like to visit the headwaters of the Rainbow River, you'll want to visit Rainbow Springs State Park. We can help you with contact information by request. If you wish to stay overnight to explore the town and local area, Angler's Resort offers motel rooms.
